El Panecillo

El Panecillo is a lookout point over Quito. There’s a small tower that you can ascend for greater views. However, the lookout point is very large and there is north and south lookout points, so you can see the entire city. Due to the elevation, a moderate level of fitness is needed to climb up to the top. However, you can also take a car or taxi to the top of the lookout.

Itchimbia Park

Located in Itchimbia hill, this park is about an hour walking from the center of Quito, just behind El Panecillo. Itchimbia Park has a glass house atop the hill which serves as an exhibition center, conference room and museum and is known as: Centro Cultural Itchimbía (Itchimbia cultural center). This park is very popular because of its excellent overhead view of the city. When the sky turns orange, the panoramic view of the city is really relaxing and totally magical.

TeleferiQo is a cable car that takes you up the Pichincha volcano. While getting up the mountain you’ll be able to enjoy ever expanding views of the city.  When the sun comes down, the whole sky turns pink and reddish so, you’ll be able to watch not only the city but the entire Andes Mountain range. Because the TeleferiQo closes at 8 p.m, you’ll have the opportunity to relax and take a little walk through the nearby areas. Learn more about the TeleferiQo here.

Mirador Parque Metropolitano

The Metropolitan Park is considered one of Quito’s main attractions. The park is  surrounded by nature and there are several look out points. Even though the sunset will set behind you, you will be in the best viewpoint to see Quito’s sunset. This landscape allows to take really beautiful photos of the city thanks to the soft illumination of the sun setting.
